“I had worked before, but here at ELIJAH I have learned so many new things. Everything is clean and done in a proper, respectful way. We even set the table for the children with candles, napkins, and cutlery — something they don’t know from home. My husband and I have many children ourselves, and they’re all allowed to come to the social center, which helps them succeed in school. I only completed eight years of school myself, which unfortunately isn’t enough to get a baker’s diploma. But I manage well at work. I’ve been here for two years now and I already know how to do everything. Maybe one day I’ll move up and become a manager. But I’ll stay the same person, no matter what my job title is. Since I started working here, I’ve grown so fond of all the children that I love them just like my own. We are all one big family — and that’s the most beautiful thing for me.”
