An important refuge
Casa Nora is our Christmas story. Read more about our new women’s shelter in our latest letter from Romania.
As I entered our women’s shelter, I caught just a glimpse of a long colourful skirt disappearing around the corner. Our house manager told me that Rita was afraid: afraid of all men. She had been married off as a young girl, as was customary in her clan. No talk of love; it was all about money. Rita wanted a divorce – but for that she would have needed the permission of the Stabor, the Roma court.

The fire of the prophet Elijah drives us. The organization has 80 employees in Romania. Hundreds of children are in our centers. From them comes the strength for our motto:
Whoever saves one life, saves the whole world.
